A holistic view on shifting behaviors

The plummeted oil price environment has presented unique challenges for Alberta Oil Sands Projects.
Projects need to be delivered on time and budget more than ever to ensure assets are delivering positive financial returns. Lubo’s presentation revolved around changed economic environment and how project professionals need to change their behavior to deliver value to projects. The presentation outlined key principles of how and what to improve in project controls methodology (estimate, cost control, and schedule) to drive continuous improvement behaviors in support of performance-improvement culture. Lubo stressed that as Project Controls professionals, we have a direct and significant role to play as part of project
team to drive a capital discipline that is an important factor to ensure longevity of development of the Oil sands.

The presentation resonated with participants and evoked lot of discussion around what steps can be taken to improve productivity in projects to improve capital efficiency. Finally section president Mustansir Raj presented the vote of thanks and gift to the speaker.
